Spending Tracker for Google Sheets and Excel, Expense Spreadsheet and Daily Spending Log with Categories and Monthly Charts
EXPENSE TRACKER FOR GOOGLE SHEETS AND EXCEL
A simple expense tracker for anyone who wants to know where their money goes. Add one line per purchase: date, amount and category. It shows what you spent this month, how that compares with the same days last month, and your biggest category.
📊 WHAT IT DOES
✓ Expenses: log each purchase on one line with the date, amount, category, how you paid and an optional note.
✓ Fifteen common categories are already filled in. Rename them or add your own, up to twenty.
✓ Give any category an optional monthly budget and see what remains.
✓ Expenses: four cards show Spent this month, Vs last month (the same days), Daily average and Top category.
✓ Set an optional monthly budget, and the first card shows what remains.
✓ Expenses: a chart of this month by category, and a chart of every day this month.
✓ Want to see an old month again? Type a date in Pick month on Expenses.
✓ Year: every category, month by month, for twelve months, with totals and a chart.
✓ A new month starts on its own. Nothing to copy or reset.
📂 WHAT'S INSIDE: 3 TABS AND 3 CHARTS
✓ Start here: an optional monthly budget and four short steps
✓ Expenses: your categories, the purchase log, four cards and two charts
✓ Year: twelve months by category, with totals and one chart
📝 HOW IT WORKS
- Open the PDF and click the link to make your own copy in Google Sheets. Or open the Excel file.
- On Start here, type a monthly budget if you want one. It is optional, and so is your name.
- On Expenses, check the category list. Then add one line to the log every time you spend.
- Everything else fills in by itself. The cards and charts show this month, and Year shows every month.

✓ Amounts show in dollars. The formulas work the same in any currency.
✓ The Excel version may look slightly different from the photos (fonts, colors, charts). The photos show Google Sheets.
